Independent Associate, Small Business & Group Benefits Specialist

Karen Shaw moved to Hughesville in 1997, prior to living in Clinton, MD for over 19 years; and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Washington, DC.  She recently earned her Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems (2005) and received her Masters degree in Business Administration (2007) from Strayer University.  Karen retired in 2006 from the Federal Government after 38 years of civil service with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) – Federal Transit; Federal Aviation; Federal Highway; and National Highway Traffic Safety Administrations.  While employed at DOT, she volunteered in numerous activities; serving the homeless, assisting senior citizens, tutoring English and Math for Junior High School students and for the past 15 years, she has volunteered on the Board of Directors for the Transportation Federal Credit Union.
